From Learning to Leadership: OIA’s Journey to Becoming an Insight+ Certified Partner

In professional services, knowledge is the product. Yet for many organisations, knowledge is still fragmented across document stores, practice areas, and individual experience. Finding the right precedent, guidance, or example often takes longer than it should—and that delay directly impacts quality, consistency, and client outcomes.

This is the challenge that led OIA to invest in iManage Insight+, and ultimately to pursue Insight+ Partner Certification.

Becoming an Insight+ Certified Partner was not about adding another badge to our portfolio. It was about building deep capability in a platform designed specifically for knowledge discovery, curation, and reuse—so that we could help our clients unlock the full value of the knowledge they already have.

Why Insight+ mattered to OIA

Traditional document management systems excel at storing and securing content, but they are not optimised for knowledge discovery. Insight+ addresses this gap by providing a dedicated knowledge search and management layer, built on iManage Cloud, that is designed to surface relevant, reusable knowledge at the point of need.

Through our exploration of Insight+, it became clear that the platform is not just about search.

It brings together:

  • Structured metadata

  • Curated knowledge collections

  • Purpose‑built workflows for knowledge teams all aimed at improving how professionals find and apply existing expertise.

For OIA, this aligned closely with how we think about knowledge as a strategic asset rather than a by‑product of work.

Taking certification seriously

From the outset, OIA approached Insight+ certification as a capability‑building exercise, not a sales enablement activity.

As part of this journey, we invested in formal learning across the full Insight+ implementation lifecycle. This included structured preparation for the iManage Insight+ Certification exam using detailed certification materials covering:

  • Insight+ architecture

  • Curation workflows

  • Knowledge Locator concepts

  • Provisioning, migration, indexing, and configuration processes.

The certification content makes it clear that Insight+ implementations span technical, business, and strategic considerations. Consultants are expected to understand not only how Insight+ is configured, but why knowledge structures, metadata design, and governance decisions matter to long‑term outcomes.

For OIA, this reinforced an important principle: successful Insight+ implementations depend as much on design and intent as they do on technology.

From certification to practical capability

Certification was only one step. The real value came from applying that learning to real‑world thinking about how organisations manage and curate knowledge.

Insight+ implementations involve deliberate decisions around:

  • Knowledge library design

  • Metadata schema alignment

  • Migration of content into knowledge workspaces

  • Indexing and ongoing curation enablement.

By engaging deeply with these concepts, OIA strengthened its ability to support clients not just in deploying Insight+, but in embedding it as a sustainable part of their knowledge operating model.

This is where certification moved from theory into practice—helping us understand what “good” looks like when Insight+ is implemented with purpose.

Looking ahead: Insight+, curation, and AI

OIA’s Insight+ journey has also extended beyond certification into exploration of what comes next.

As part of this work, we contributed to early thinking around Ask Knowledge and Copilot‑style experiences built on Insight+, exploring how curated knowledge collections can underpin trustworthy, grounded AI interactions.

These explorations reinforced a critical insight: AI is only as good as the knowledge it is grounded in.

Insight+’s focus on curated, categorised, and authoritative content positions it as a strong foundation for modern AI‑assisted knowledge work—provided organisations invest in the right structures and governance.

What becoming an Insight+ Certified Partner really means

For OIA, becoming an Insight+ Certified Partner represents a commitment to:

  • Deep product understanding, not surface‑level familiarity

  • Knowledge‑led implementations, not just technical deployments

  • Helping clients realise measurable value from their existing intellectual capital

Certification is not the end of the journey. It is the baseline from which better conversations, better designs, and better outcomes begin.

As Insight+ continues to evolve, OIA remains focused on helping organisations move from simply storing knowledge to truly activating it—so that expertise is easier to find, easier to trust, and easier to reuse.

Interested in learning how Insight+ can transform knowledge discovery in your organisation?OIA would be delighted to continue the conversation.
